Blue Chip Championships, Hartpury

Unbelievable Darc Blue travelled to the Championships to compete from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th April.

The facilities at Hartpury for these Championships were absolutely amazing! The indoor Championship Arena resembled Olympia and we were lucky enough to have two of the countries best course designers working in both the indoor and outdoor arenas. Considering that with nearly 1000 horses competing over the five days, the centre was kept very clean and tidy.

Blue was stabled in a barn that housed 23 others and was very close to the lorry where Jo was staying. This was ideal as we had quite a few torrential downpours where we all had to make a run for either the lorry or the stable!

The first class, which was held indoors, was pulled forward to start at 7am. Blue was drawn second to go! She jumped clear in this class and was one place from being in the money. On the second day the jumping for her section was held in the outdoor arena. The class had almost 100 entries so we were delighted when Ben & Blue finished in 7th place with a fast double clear! This qualified her for another Championship Final which was held late on Friday evening. Unfortunately, this was to be our 'Friday the 13th' and wasn't so successful for Blue as she had two down for 8 faults at the final double.
